How to disable the start/stop function?
On the new Q5, I don't like the automatic start/stop function. Is there a way to disable this feature?
Is there a way to disable it using the VAG system?

I too am curious. I'm lazy and don't always want to remember to press some button to turn off that feature.

This was changed in the 2018 model per my SA. So once you turn on the car you can press the button to disable it. I think the poster is asking how via VCDS would you set it so that it remembers that you last disabled it?

if you add 32 to the original value --> memorize last status (the Start & Stop status at engine startup will be the one at last engine shutdown)
Press Test then press Save

I wish you can customize so that the system can auto stop after a specified # of seconds after stopping. I would set it @ 4 seconds so that it mostly works on stop lights but not working on stop signs.

I like both the content and delivery of this guy's videos. He tends to give plenty of good no nonsense information with a measure of opinion and plenty of personality.

Contrarian viewpoint: The system, if you just live with it for a while, is so close to "not noticeable" it's should not even be an issue. The fact that the instant you lift your foot off of the brake the engine restarts made it close enough to invisible, I could live with it.
However, since I NEVER drive my car in "D" -- choosing only "S" mode -- the start stop feature no longer engages. Plus, the car is always in the gear I would choose were I driving a stick shift. When in D, the thing is always one gear too high for maximum performance.
Drive in D and live with the auto start stop or drive is S and improve your satisfaction level exponentially both for the disabling of the the start stop feature and for the fact that the vehicle remains in a gear until the engine RPM's are a couple hundred higher than when in D mode.
Either you want a modicum of performance or you want what some here, apparently, must think of as "economy."
Life is too short to drive these wonderful vehicles in "D"!
