Default Instructions to replace the front grill

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has changed their front grill and have the instructions to do so?

Looking to take out and replace if anyone has done this would appreciate any advise or guidance.

Cheers

You bet, check out post #26:

Its a bit of an undertaking, but not impossible. Front facing camera was a pain though.

Thread is on the Q7 forum, that post is for my SQ5 though. It will be the same for your Q5.

It's not impossible, but it is a pretty involved task so leave yourself a bunch of time. You have to pull the whole front bumper skin off which makes it a project not for the faint of heart (but do-able).

My Alibaba grill didn't have a proper mount for the front camera so there was a bit of fabrication on my part to get it to work in the new grill. I love the look now it's done though so the pain was worth it!

I found the most difficult part was removing the fender trims. They are secured to the front fascia with plastic snaps that need to be accessed from within the wheel well. It's a blind operation, and if you damage the snaps the fender trim will not reinstall correctly. Took me quite some time to remove them all.

I also had difficulty reinstalling the parking sensors because the mounting holes were not drilled on center in the aftermarket grill. in the end it all came together, but I'm not sure this is a job I'd do twice.

Good luck!

Funny, since I was thinking the same thing when mine was done. Love the look, but it was pain to do. I'm used to other vehicles where the grill just pops right off the front and you pop in the aftermarket. This thing was like a swiss watch to get apart!
