Low oil

Low oil
I’ve had my 2018 Q5 since November. Tonight I noticed that I had a low oil warning on my dashboard. Is this expected? I called Audi and they said to just top it off with oil. I’m coming from a Honda Accord which I never had to do anything to. Is it normal to burn oil like that?

all depends on mileage, where it started off, and how you drive.
How much oil did you add?

But like you, I can't remember the last time I had to add oil to a car and I am thinking back 25 years. But I never owned a Turbo before.

Ok cool. I’m at 7500 miles. Just saw the warning tonight.

I read it somewhere in Audi manual saying that first 3000 miles the vehicle will be consuming oil (during break in period) which is normal.
Now the one thing I was confused is why 2018 model uses Audi spec 504 and 2019 mode uses 508? That's 5W-40 vs 0W-20. Any thoughts?

Most turbo charged engine’s do consume a bit more oil than naturally aspirated. Majority of Hondas are naturally aspirated (non-turbo) hence you’ve probably never had this problem before.
1 quart every 10,000 miles is probably acceptable maybe even 1.25. Beyond that I would press the dealer for a solution.
Audi dealers should give you a free quart of oil to cover this.
As others have said new engines to burn a bit more oil as the piston rings are seating. Make sure you drive the car hard occasionally and really push the motor. Sometimes people baby the car for the first 10,000 or only do long freeway drives at a constant RPM. Best way to break in an engine is with city driving and once past 500 to 1000 miles then start pressing the motor a little bit harder
