Martigary is probably right - the update is reading the license.

I re-read the TSB which talks about needing the dealer to do this last full update (thank you AOA for sending me the files!). They also mention needing an SVM activation after 5 years (but it doesn't seem applicable yet for me).
Why not extend the license ?

$$$ - completely overpriced. Plus the navigation voice recognition is close to worthless for me. It cannot recognize addresses without numbers (e.g. XYZ Hospital) and even with numbers it gets it wrong > 50% of the time - so I start shouting at it . I am using Google Maps through (Wireless) Android Auto.

What is the price that is overpriced?

How did you do a factory reset of the nav database? A few weeks ago my map data became corrupted and I ended up going to the dealer to get navigation working again. I am just curious about the factory reset because that might have saved me a trip to the dealer. Under Settings - Factory Settings I see 2 possibilities: reset Navigation settings and reset Navigation and online memory. Do one of those reset the nav database? TIA.

I chose Reset Navigation Settings and I believe it just resets choices in the menus like what to show on maps, etc. I'm not positive what online memory is, but it might relate to Audi connect stuff ( e.g favorite places). As for the actual data, it wouldn't reset that, as you'd need a backup somewhere on disk internally which ours won't have.

Thus should include map updates too from what I can tell.

I'm glad it's finally shipping. I went through a period of challenges with the newest images breaking my connection,, but as of today,, it's working flawlessly. I don't have a production model yet, but that should improve the wifi. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes for you.

I was worried for a week or so. Fingers crossed...If it doesn't work or live up to your expectations, my reputation will be compromised 😱

Default Download Sources for Map Data

Given Audi's poor handling of map updates, it's no surprise that there are several active threads regarding this topic. While browsing them I found three posts where people had made map downloads available from their personal cloud drives. See the following posts:
2019-2020 Maps - https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-.../#post25511997

2020-2021 Maps - https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-.../#post25499968
I am curious if anyone reading has come across a location to download the 2021 Maps.
