So no one knows where to locate the pre-wired harness or where to install the control box?

Default where your car has empty space

<center><img src="http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/Jusfofun/Car%20stuff/ThingyModule.jpg"></center><p>mine appears to have the plastic bracket in your "installguide jpg"

In your first pic just over the right exhaust heat shield there is a cable. On my car that is the electrical harness for trailer lights.
It plugs in way at the back of the space referred to above.
I have no real help for you, apart from this link if its any use.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/q7/threads/2150.phtml#13488">Previous discussion</a></li></ul>

Thanks for the pic of your vehicle. Definitely a different setup.

The cable that is over the right exhaust heat shield is the wiring harness that came with the tow hitch that I routed over there and through the provided hole. It came with a grommet that closes the hole nicely.

I was referring to the internal wiring that apparently should have been pre-run down the side of the vehicle to the back.

I may need to contact "Dr. Chill" and get the TSB since my VIN ends prior to the running change introduced at 7D021937.

I believe I have the NAV DVD drive in that slot on my 2008 4.2 Premium. I'll double check and make sure. I'll try and take snapshot for you as well. I also have the US factory tow package, so that probably will help locate the unit.

Thanks! A snapshot would be great. Especially if I see the pre-wired connector head

Don't have that EU tow hitch in my 2008 4.2 Premium (US Spec)

Got the pictures.. but I don't know where to upload the photos.

And yes, I was right, the empty bracket (which you are also missing) fits the NAV DVD ROM.

As for the pre-wired harness, I'm not sure how it looks like so couldn't locate it.

Default With Hitch Cover

Today the Fedex package showed up (from Craig at GenuineVWAudiPart.com) which contained the cover replacement (4L0807819C-XXX; XXX is the color code you need) for hitch installed.

The tolerance is awesome with about 4-5mm between the top of the cover and the protruding hitch. I haven't installed the trailer connector yet but you can see the access area to the left of the hitch in this shot.
