Default Push start button

Last night we left to go out. I tried the push start and it did not work. It did absolutely nothing. When we were returning back home last night, the push start button worked fine again. Then we went out today and the push start will not work and key not identified popped up on the dash. It’s a 2015 Q7. Is this something common?

let me add, that I can push stop engine and that works fine. I can lock and unlock the car. It’s just the push start button that will not work

I'm thinking key fob battery too. Have you tried another key? I assume the car still starts using the actual key in the ignition correct? IIRC, I've heard of occasions when the keyless antenna module has failed, but since you can still lock/unlock, that shouldn't be the issue.

But I would definitely try new batteries and other key fobs first before jumping to those conclusions. I would also assume that shutting off the car with the stop engine button wouldn't require detection of the keyfob, so that should still work regardless of whether the key in detected, or even if it's not in the car.
