20" All-Season Tire Recommendations
My Continentals are done. I've checked the forum archives but I have not discovered a clear winner for an all-season replacement. I am located in Minnesota but I want to avoid buying dedicated snow tires. The wife did fine last winter with the Continentals. Does anyone have any experience in the snow with any of the alternatives?
I have been looking at the following (275/45/20):
Goodyear Fortera SL
Yokohama Parada Spec-X

I just got the Yokohamas and they did fine in the little bit of snow we had this morning.
I've only put a few hundred miles on them so far though so I can't say from much experience. Also, I don't plan to run them in the winter...I've got a second set of 20" wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow that I'll be swapping to this weekend. Not because of anything wrong with the Paradas, just that I want the extra peace of mind with the snow tires.

I have 20" Michelin Lattitude Touring HP that I bought last month and am awaiting its winter performance, once the snow hits us in the Northeast. I was also surprised at the lack of definitive information in the forum.

Re: ...
Thanks; I saw that but none of the posts tell me that the tire works well in the snow.... You state that you don't use snow tires but do you live in a location that has snow???

most popular tire for all season good for Snow and Ice
is the Pirelli Scorpian.
It is aimed at the winter market but holds up well for grip and wear with summer use by all accounts.
If you use the search here for Pirelli with Q7 forum filter on, you will find tons of posts.
Papaya Q7 has been a great advocator of them all along. He is in Vancouver.
Let us know what you run with to keep building the picture. Thanks.

Snow is limited but the experience with them is good...
In Seattle we only get a few days a year when snow is on the ground. Most of my snow experience has been crossing mountain passes and in Central Oregon where my wife's parents live. When crossing Mt Hood to get there they Toyos did great for an all-season tire and while in Bend where there is often snow on the ground in the winter they do equally well.
A few things..
1. The Q7 will make just about any tire perform well in the snow, these are no different but I did find them better than the stock Contis... just slightly in this respect.
2. No all-season is going to do as good as a dedicated winter tire and these are no exception.
Obviously based on my previous considering I drive about 30k a year I am looking for a tire that can get 50 to 60k out of it without sacrifice in other places... which I feel this one does.

Goodyear Fortera TripleTred is what I went with.....
I also had the Continentals 4x4 with 22000 miles on them and I did not feel comfortable driving them this winter. I ended up with the Goodyear Fortera TripleTred XL. I just got them a couple weeks ago so they are still new but so far they feel great and I cant wait to drive the Q7 in snow! I dont have the 20" wheels I have 18's so I not sure if they have them in your size. I hope this helps!!
