Sorry for the necrobump, but I'm having issues showing the gear. I turn off Bit 1 and go to save and get this error. Anyone else seen this happen?
I have been tweaking stuff all day in VCDS without any issue, so I don't think its VCDS or the car.

Is your engine on? You need to have the ignition on but the engine off.. playing w/VCDS w/an engine running is not a great idea anyhow.

Tried it off and and on, same error.
Tried to just change the coding to the Porsche setting and leaving gear select alone and got the same error.

VCDS did ask to update when I first turned it on today and I hit no, Now its saying its up to date?
Maybe tomorrow it will update and I'll see if it wants to connect.

I'm using an antique version circa 2017, been meaning to update but seeing the changes made recently makes me hesitant.

I did update my VCDS before playing today, version 19.6.2 to 19.6.2 but a release date change from September 2019 to February 2020. That didn't do anything and still got the same error, then I had an epiphany and put the key in and turned to accessory instead of just hitting the start button to wake it up. Took the code change just like it should, so I guess I was showing my keyless entry nativity. Still new to all this tech compared to my old B6.

It still wont take the coding change for the Porsche Cayenne transmission though, kept getting error 7F, but that is for another thread.

Were you pressing start and the brake pedal at same time? if you just push start by its self quickly it should be same as key in accessory mode.. thats how I've always done it w/VCDS on keyless.

I was hitting start with my foot off the brake to just get the accessories on. Not sure why the physical key in and turned to acc. mattered for the transmission changes as I did a whole slew of VCDS mods before with no key in and just hitting the start button and they all took fine.

I can't seem to enable long coding. When I click on coding, I don't get the option for the long coding helper. I'm using a pretty new version of VCDS. Any suggestions? Thanks.
