Back after many years, info on 2012 Q7 3.0 L Sport
Looking at purchasing this vehicle 127,500 kilometres, clean carfax , shows very well.
what should terrify me? What are know issues.
thanks very much. PS what’s the difference between MK1 and II?

as someone looking to exit and having a 2013...
door handles, short to ground
steering (fluid leaking, power steering cooler cracked, metal tubes under neath about to crack
starter motor, replaced a couple of months ago
ac high pressure sensor fault, trying to replace this myself
spark plugs and coils need servicing soon
scan showing coolant pump fault, probably next thing to go
p0491 fault, nothing burger for me but next owner will probably have to spend 2k to pass safety.
been told the serpentine belt will need replacement soon.
lot of these are standard car stuff but the labor costs will do you in if you're not handy and willing to do some of them yourself.

Here's the best overview for the 4L Q7 series (first Gen Q7), and what to expect is coming your way if not already been replaced/repaired, etc.
These are great cars, but like anything else out there they have their quirks, and you want to be sure to get a pre-sale inspection by a qualified mechanic before buying to ensure you know exactly what you are buying into. Even low mileage cars can need some love after 10 years. It's really important to have the full service history, if possible, but you still want the pre-sale inspection report, as that can save you from buying one that needs a bunch of work, or at least place you in a position to better negotiate the price based on what it actually needs, etc.
BTW, the second Gen Q7 is the edgier looking, 4M Q7 platform, but you will also hear the 3.0L TDI engine referenced in the 4L series as Gen 1 TDI and Gen 2 TDI (or 1.2 TDI as in VW-speak) , as it was completely redesigned for 2013 model year.
It is very important to know Audi did not include driveline lubricants maintenance in the standard maintenance intervals/service plan (front/rear differentials, transfer case, transmission), and I don't believe the hydraulic fluid has a set replacement interval either...that's for the power steering, so if it is a dark color in the reservoir/on dipstick, then it requires changing to protect your steering pump and steering rack, etc.
You'll probably want to take some notes and/or rewatch this a few times, as it is quite accurate:
