Can I change just oil filter without too much mess
I assume most of the oil is drained in the pan after the engine is stopped and some time has passed. Am I correct? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Here is the pic of 3.6 engine. Filter and its components is marked as A4
The answer is that, yes you can just change the filter and you will not lose any more oil than you would have when the oil was drained. The oil only circulates when the engine is running and has to be lifted to the filter by the pump.
Remember to top up again after fitting the new filter and briefly starting up to fill the filter & housing.
