CD changer "device error" need help!!

CD changer "device error" need help!!
Last winter on a really cold night, I started my suv and the cd player just stopped working. I believe there is a CD stuck in there but not sure. When I click on cd, it says " device error " I have the keys to remove the cd changer and have unplugged it and plugged it back in. I can now hear the motor of the changer run but the error comes back up. Any help is greatly appreciated.
