Convenience key won’t start car...
hey all, went to push start button on my ‘13 Q7 prestige yesterday after work, and nothing happened.
No signs of any issues before this. Decent rain in Boston during the day, when car was parked outside. Any tricks I should know about or is this a larger issue.? Don’t suppose this would be covered under new TDI warrantee... or would it? Any help appreciated, as I’m getting to airport and would love someone to point me in the right direction. TIA

What about putting the key into the ignition and try starting it like a caveman? If so does it try to turn over or just click at yeh? Might be time for a new battery on that 2013.. my 2014 already had to get a fresh battery a few months back.

Sorry...more info
This caveman started it right up with key in the ignition. I’m just wondering why no recognition. Would a key fob battery be it, even if I can still lock/unlock with it? Or something greater. Thoughts. No issues, driving it now. Just curious how to fix when I get back home. Thanks all

Try it with the secondary keyfob? Pickup a CR2032 on the way home and see if a new Fob Battery helps.. The remote lock/unlock still work with a weak battery, just at reduced range.. I replace mine when I cant lock the car from my office looking at the security cameras during my nightly lockdown routine.. they still work at close range, but I like being able to hit the panic button on my fob when I see someone trying door handles at 2am.. really scares the **** outta em.
FOB Battery would be the first thing to rule out since they are by far the most likely to cause the issue your seeing... either try a new battery in your fob or try the secondary fob before worrying about something deeper.
