Diagnostic Tool Recomendation
Please recommend a great Audi Q7 diagnostic tool (no fakes or clones kits) to purchase privately; my budget is < $3000.
Must be able to update software via the internet as new car models are released.
Thanks.

no, VCDS is a tool specific to VW/Audi group vehicles.. generic diagnostic tools cant do the things it can.. like run calibration and diagnostics tests on equipment, read detailed information on faults and when they occurred, change service intervals, recode modules for different behavior, prime fuel system after installing new filters, or to tell the system you have a new battery.. none of that is possible w/a generic tool.
the only other good option is OBDEleven, its nice and affordable but still not capable of everything you can do to your vehicle w/VCDS.
Think of VCDS as the consumer version of the computer diagnostics the dealer uses.. because you cant afford that even if they offered it for sale, pretty much all indy shops that specialize in german cars has one for them selves.
