Default GEN 2 TDI Thermostat Replacement.

I have reached 99k miles on my 2014 Q7 TDI Prestige. Last winter my Q7 would warm up to the point where its putting out some warm air through the vents within no more than 1/2 mile from my house. This fall, im noticing that it takes sometimes 10min of driving before the HVAC starts to send warm air to the vents so with that, some research along with observation points out to the thermostat on my car not operational.

I will try to document the replacement of this part in this thread.

PN for the Oil Filter Housing which has the thermostat built in is : 059115389P

The Area Circled in green should not be warm as the engine is warming up, it should only get warm when the thermostat opens.

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/aud...ico-059115389p FCP EURO has the part for 250$.

Default TDI Aux Heater

Observation: TDI Q7s have a small auxiliary heater, which, when enabled is what gives you that near immediate cabin heating response in cold weather, and also allows for cabin heating while parked/engine off. you simply have to go into climate settings in MMI and make sure the aux heater is turned on (you want the automatic mode). When it's turned off/disabled, then you'll be waiting for heat, just like in any other car. The Q7 can also disable the aux heater (and other useful systems too) if it senses/thinks your battery is low, and you can see/review that operational status in the live feed on the Gateway channel (19) via scantool/vcds, etc., if need be. Also highly recommend you check the box for auto-recirc, found within the A/C submenu (MMI), as the default for it is also 'off'. I read the user manuals.

Cheers!
