Just Bought a Q7 - Quick Question
My wife and I just bought a used 2010 Q7 with about 19,800 miles on it. One of the only blemishes that the dealer is fixing is that the chrome trim around the Multimedia **** is bubbling and rippled.
The sales person said that is pretty common, and is replacing it. That said, I've googled and checked forums and dont see this issue with any other car. My concern is that this car may have had an issue not reported, so I am just curious if this has happen to anyone else?
Thanks!
Mike

Mike, welcome aboard!
Any curious issues in the CARFAX report?
What warranty claims has this vehicle had to date?

Nope. this is the car here, with car fax:

We also negotiated that they give us the Dealer Certified Pre-Owned, which they claim they eliminated when they reduced the price of the car.

Whats odd on the new carfax is that it says the car was put up for sale today, with 51,000 miles on it....
We bought it a few days ago, and it's being cleaned, and it has 19,800.... Hoping there was an error...

Hold on the car is described as 'Orca Black' but the pictures are of a Quartz or Graphite but definitely Grey. There is a mix up. Run for now and start again.
PS A second glance at the ad shows it reporting 19" rims in the description and 18" in the specs. So which do you get which did you want? How can you know what you are buying when they dont know what they are selling!
Oops didnt read down as far as eggyacid's reply.

My dealer said the **** can't be replaced, so they replaced the entire MMI unit under warranty. It's been replaced twice now.
Here are a couple things I wish I had been told about the Q7:
1. Don't put drinks in your armrest drink holder - the slightest splash could cause the MMI to become defective - the buttons are not water resistant - German models do not have drink holders. If you must, then find a cloth about the size of a placemat and drape it over the entire MMI control unit to prevent any drops from hitting the buttons.
2. If you have a panoramic roof, make sure you ask your dealer to clean the drain tubes. If they become blocked, water could damage the amp in the trunk.
3. Make sure you clean out the leaves from engine compartment by the firewall. Not doing this can block those drains and cause water to enter the passenger footwell. Lots of it.
