Default Looking for new tires

Hi I have a couple of questions

First I am looking at 2 potential sources of buying the tires from
Amazon and TireRack

Can someone explain if both products are the same:

https://www.amazon.com/Pirelli-SCORP...ll+Season+Plus

vs

Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus

Also what would be a good alternative to the Pirellis? Yoko? Michelin? Conti?

That IS confusing. The Amazon price is too good to be true. I see a different tread pattern and when I click " specs" I see a UTOG TWR of 520. The Pirelli Verde All Season plus carries a 740 UTOG TWR. I just bought a set and they are excellent. I bought from Discount Tire Direct as their price was a bit better than Tire Rack's this time.

The older Verde had a treadwear rating of 520, which is what the amazon page indicates. The amazon page also doesn't indicate that it's an XL load rated tire, but I don't think they made a non-XL in that size. Frankly, it looks like it's the older non-plus version, hence the discount. I don't know how Amazon supports the treadwear warranty that comes with the tire since I would think it requires an authorized dealer installing the tire. More trouble than it's worth if you ask me for a small savings, I'd rather go with Discount Tire and get free rotations and flat repair, and they'll honor the treadwear warranty.

I've purchased a full set in 18" for the 3.6 when I downgraded from 20", and two replacements in 19" for the 4.2 when I noticed a sidewall bulge on one of the tires (fairly new mileage wise, but the PO had put them on) and replaced the "axle" pair. Keep in mind, that if you don't have a good local shop that will install tires purchased elsewhere, Amazon is not a good option. Check with a garage first. Also, DT doesn't have locations in every city to take advantage of their tire rotation service or have them act as the liaison for warranty. So, that may be a moot point.

I went with the Yokohama Prada in the 20" and they have been great so far. Bought them from my local tire store , very small operation, 2 bays, for less than $700 out the door.
