Lost 5 of 6 coils in the Q7
The other day the Q7 went into limp mode, my wife was able to make it to the dealership. They called and told us that 5 of the 6 coils failed in our 07 Q7 3.6(47K). Under waranty guidelines they were only able to replace 5 of them, how short sited is that, 1 more coil and they were already there doing the job.....?

There is a voluntary recall on the coils. Received a letter from Audi; they are inspecting and if neccesary replacing all coils. My dealer replaced all of them under this recall just to be safe.

My guess would be yes. There are only a couple of electronics parts suppliers used by all the German automobile builders: Bosch, Beru, Hella.

So would you guys describe/search this under mechanical fails or electrical fails?
I am tempted to file them under mech F as they are part of the engine function.

Somewhat confused by the recall... visited dealership twice, had them look up VIN twice. Brought them the recall paperwork and they claim it is not for my VIN and not for the 3.6 They said even if they replaced the coils it would be with the same exact coils as I already have.
Another dealership claims it is part of the recall... I am of the mind if it isnt broke dont mess with it at this point but rethinking it after readint this thread.
