Default Purchasing a used 2011 q7 TDI in 2023?

A local dealer is offering a 2011 q7 TDI Premium Plus, with 85,000 miles for right around $16k. Dealer claims that the warranty is still active from Audi. I'm assuming this means that they will still cover dieselgate issue but I'm not sure, they said I would have to contact Audi directly about the details of the warranty but I got fed up on hold. I've looked through the forums and learned about about the phantom door handle battery drain issue but I haven't seen anything else that really stuck out to me. Wondering if anyone is still driving their 2011 around here, and if ya'll have any advice on what to expect when crossing over 100k on an older q7 and what to look out for. Id like to try and prevent buying a time bomb. I've seen quite a few q7's out there with 150k, 165k but not many over that. I'm expecting to drive it for three or four years, a few vacations, 50-60,000 miles then resell it at ~150k. Any chances I'll make it that far without major issue?
Thanks and sorry if this is a common and/or rehashed q/a, I didn't find anything recent through search. If I end up an Audi owner, I look forward to sticking around!

Price seems high for an '11, even with low miles indicated; that's not necessarily a good thing on a TDI. Definitely do some comparisons online to see what they selling for currently and get a handle on trim levels/accessory options packages, etc. Premium, Premium +, Prestige are the levels, then there are add-on options packages, suspensions, stereo systems, etc., etc.

You'd want to get an independent PPI performed on car to check for known issues before committing to it. You can look up the VIN# directly on Audi dieselgate settlement site to see when it was 'fixed', and status of remaining extended warranty on it. There is a 4yr/48k miles warranty from date of emissions fix, or if it were a buy-back car, from the date of consumer sale following the emissions fix, etc.

If it doesn't have much time left on extended settlement warranty, then you could look into adding aftermarket warranty to it (Fidelity, etc.), which can definitely be worth the cost of admission if the warranty is going to lapse soon.

I highly recommend the TDI powertrain in any trim level, but on the used market you can get a lot more for your money if you research this car, as the options aren't worth much on the used car appraisal; it's more about condition, mileage, and year model. Just don't get suckered. At a minimum, you should perform a complete diagnostic scan of the car, which requires a VAGCOM capable scan tool, but spending the $ on a PPI could literally save you thousands of dollars up-front, or tell you to walk away from it entirely. It's all about the details.

Here's a video walk-through of known issues with this series (4L Q7) and with first-gen 3.0 TDI engine:

Are you located in NJ? I think I know the car you're looking at. Looks clean.

Um, yes.

Paid $4500 a year ago on my (now) 167K TDi, Fidelity has put $14K into it

Get a quote on that Q7 before you buy it...you want to make sure that it can be covered due to age/mileage...

Here's a majorly sweet car I'd be very interested in buying if I were looking currently; a loaded 2012 TDI, modest mileage, in-warranty, private seller. Brake rotors look a bit rough from casual perusal of photos, but could just be rusty/ugly from him washing it for the pics too; get a PrePurchaseInspection to verify condition and what it needs/will need, and then negotiate price down a bit further.

Equipment: Prestige Trim Level
Air susp, Tow package, Adaptive Cruise, B&O sound system, etc., etc., and it is bright silver exterior with a light interior (not black)...an extremely rare find on the Q7. (UNICORN) Reasonably priced for its' rare mix of factory options/color/interior, mileage, etc. You would want to know what work has been done under TDI extended warranty on it.

Someone is going to buy this car pretty quick:
