Hell, my 4 wheel drive GMC one ton truck doesn't see much off road except pulling out a stuck tractor or backing my 40 foot 5th wheel trailer on wet grass.
In fact, you know what the difference between a rental car and my 4x4 truck is? I wont take my truck off road!
My Q7 will stay on road. The black paint isn't too off road friendly.

For a pic I'll try and remember the camera next time I go to the farm and get some shots of her "in a field" (no promises).
Note that the Q7 we have for the farm is an 07 (Feb?) and is now badly scratched and chipped due to bushes, flyng stones, careless farmhands - the usual - but sounds like you have some experience off the asphalt so you know what to expect. The colour is Lava grey.
My own Q7 is an "asphalt" queen - its phantom black and the paint job would last about 10 seconds at the farm...
I was with a family friend yesterday. He has a Range Rover (08) and he's not shy of flinging it around in fields. Much as I love the Q7, the Range Rover is way more secure off road (even the "lite" stuff we get up to), as you'd expect. He drove the Q7 for a run up to the calving sheds in a high pasture and he was quite impressed... but after towing the Q7 out once I'm cautious of the Q7 in mud due to its weight and comparatively low profile and the lack of an offroad transfer case. I'm sure his Range Rover would have gotten out of the field without the need for a massive tractor yanking it.
