Default Rubber gasket coming off between the door and the bottom panel.

Does anyone have problems with the rubber gasket working its way out between the door and the bottom panel of the door? I have the S line 3.6. My service manager says they have to order and replace the whole bottom panel of the door. Which means they have to send it to a body shop and have them painted and put on the car. Does that even sound right? Any info is appreciated.

Default I've had both sides fixed (without replacment), but now the right side is doing it again.

And my service manager is saying the same thing - replace the panel and have it painted. I haven't done it yet. I'm afraid that the new paint won't match (Daytona Gray also - seems like it might be a difficult color to match).

Default This has happened before...

One of mine is not fitted properly and someone posted nine months to a year ago about same. I cant remember who it was and alas I never recorded it in my "faults" file. The solution offered at the time was to catch the end of the rubber and stretch it out thus pulling it into line. That is what i did with mine and it was fine for a while but recurred and remains slightly out of line still.
996CAB has an S-Line too and had same problem.
I guess it happens more on S-Lines.

I dont understand why they need to replace any more than the double sided sticky rubber strip!

Default I have a 4.2 S-Line and the body molding on the drivers door needed to be replaced...

due to some of the tabs closest to the passenger door being broken. I noticed this because when I opened the drivers door I heard a loud sound caused by this loose panel catching on the front fender.

My service rep ordered a replacement panel which was back ordered. He told me it would come in painted (lava gray pearl effect) and the time to replace was only 20 minutes.

The part came in, I made an appointment and after 15 minutes my service rep told me they would have to send the panel out to be painted because it was not completely painted on the edges like they thought it would be. I'm not sure what that means exactly but it was painted and is on now.

The paint matches perfectly!

Default Yet another S-Line!

These S-Line cars are finished in the GMBH Factory unlike the other Q7s.

I firmly suspect they have a problem either with the design of the different panel or the fitting procedure.

There have been no comments here about any standard panels as yet.

Default Re: This has happened before...

yep, I have had mine replaced by dealer under warranty - some 3mths ago. Seems OK now and no sign of a recurrance.

Not much more to report, thankfully.

I have a 4.2 Daytona Grey S-Line with the same issue. Thought it would be an easy remove and replace with the gasket reseated.... guess not. Will check on the next service.
