Should my brake warning light be on?

Looks like you probably triggered the 'low' brake pad sensor. You'll be due for a change in the coming say 2k miles. Till then you can look forward to squealing stops!

I don’t have a “light” on yet and no squealing. I’ve read the sensors are iffy sometimes and may not work.

The brakes on the Q7 are super easy to work with. Pull a tire and you can have one of the brake pads off in minutes, to both measure and check if the sensor has been ground into at all.

totally agree
I swapped out my front pads to do a comparison (no difference!) and it took longer to jack up my car and take off the wheel than it took to swap the pads out.
Quick reading failure!

You are getting close but not there yet. If rotors are worn enough to have a lip at the edge, it will come on quicker. Your pads are still adequate for safe stopping. I have run them considerably thinner but keep an eye on them. The inner pad typically wears a bit faster than the outer.

The light comes on with thousands of miles of life left in the pads, if it comes on as you pull out of the driveway for a big trip.. dont worry about it and fix em when you get home.

Agreed. On our 2011 I disabled the sensors when one wore thru and ran those pads another 5000 miles. Those rotors were on their second set of pads and had a pretty big lip at the edge. That contacts and cuts the sensor early.
