Default Sirius Radio and realtime traffic

Now that my free three months of sirius Radio have expired I have called to renew my membership.

I was told that I was unable to buy a life time subscriptions for the radio, and then pay for the real time traffic updates.

The sirius people told me that the receiver had to have two different serial numbers. They explained that the car has two different receivers one for radio and one for information like traffic, but since they both have the same serial numbers they can not separate the bill.

I am not sure if anyone has looked at the price difference but its substantial. When I took the car in for the 5,000 service the service manager just looked at me like I had three heads.

Anyone ideas?

thanks

I didn't get a lifetime subscription to Sirius, but I did get a 3 yr without the traffic info.

Yeah I could do that. But one of the main reasons I bought the car was for the real time traffic. Living and working in Los Angeles its a life saver to get around traffic. Did they offer you a lifetime membership?

Nope, and I did not want Traffic, since I live in the burbs.

I got the lifetime AND traffic...This was last May 2010.
Unless something has changed, call back and talk to a supervisor.

I'm curious what it cost. My 3 yr with no traffic was $308 in Sept 2010.

How good is the traffic integration? I am considering buying only the sirius traffic, not the music.

I really cannot recall...I want to say it was equal to 3 yr.

I haven't had a need to use it yet...thank goodness.

I wound up doing a trial 1 month traffic subscription. Looks ok; the integration is pretty good, but the Google traffic on my Droid is better. However, the Droid is not on the Audi monitor right in front of my eyes, so for $4/month, I'll probably keep the Sirius traffic for a year.

Yes, the music quality sucks... but the traffic integration is great, and I like it better than google on my iphone. I've used it in LA, San Fran, even Lake Tahoe. It's really usable and always there, combining it with the GPS guidance... it's a no brainer. BUT STILL NO TOUCH SCREEEEEN!!!! Un-f'in-believable.
