Tow Bar question

So I was looking to add a retrofit tow hitch also since my CPO didn't come with one.
Now am I understanding this correctly that if we go with the OEM Audi set up or a aftermarket that towing capacity is the same without the towing package?
So it comes down to a fitment issue?
