2017 Q7 battery type?
Hi. I have a 2017 Q7 3.0T. My brother died last year, I paid off his Tesla and my wife's using it as her daily.
Since we aren't using the Q that much, it was dead when she tried to use it last week from not starting it for weeks.
My son told us just to connect a trickle charger to it so we didn't have to worry about it, as opposed to just running it once a week to keep it charged.
As is typical with inertia, I'm sure we'd forget to do that.
The trickle charger he got us has different modes for different batteries, standard/AGM/Li.
I've researched what battery this thing uses, but I've heard both standard and AGM.
Not wanting to blow this thing up, I opened the battery compartment on the passenger side.
They have this thing bolted down like they are worried about people stealing it.
It's so stupid, I can't even get the bracket off to check the battery type.
I can barely lift the cover an inch or so by the + terminal and see a lead Pb label, but I can't see the top of the battery to see what type it is, whether AGM or not.
There's a scan code there with numbers under it. *205 JCB4G2028U-* but it's not helpful searching it.
Any other thoughts out there?
I'd really appreciate a way to check without having to reach down in that stupid hole with an extension socket trying to get past multiple connectors in the way.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I read someplace that since it has start/stop, it's probably AGM, but I've also read that Audi started using non-AGM batteries at some point as well after they started making this generation.
I would sleep at night better knowing it's not going to be an issue, but I can't see the top of the thing to confirm either way.

My 2017 is AGM. The difference in charging profiles is small, and your old battery is likely toast after such a deep discharge, and its age anyway, so I would not over think it.

My 2017 Q7 battery needs changing, and I was quoted an AGM replacement by the dealership. A fellow poster opened up their 2017 Q7 battery to verify specs in a thread I posted, and they confirmed theirs was an AGM as well. (I haven't had a chance to open mine up yet.)
I do think they are all almost certainly AGM, because standard lead-acid batteries typically cannot be inside the passenger compartment because they can produce toxic fumes. (There's a sad story of two people who died driving a Porsche which had its battery swapped from AGM to standard. As with the Q7, the battery is located inside the passenger compartment, and it off-gassed and killed them.)
My condolences on your brother.
