You either need carista, VAG COM, or dealer tool.
No way around it for retracting the rear pistons into the caliper.

Also Audi's tend to be particular. Make sure you clean out the slide pins and lube them up well.
I have done brakes on my convertible and been good so far, but I do not know what Audi replaces in terms of hardware or rubber booties when they do a brake job. I reused mine.
I know you should replace the rotor set screw every time... no questions asked.

Thanks for the info. Is this the pad that you got? https://www.europaparts.com/brake-pa...8451r-oea.html

No, I went with OEM pads since I don't need grief from the dealer if I were to have issues down the road.
I figure the OEM pads are formulated to work best with the DAP, ABS, and they are nice and sticky with good bite. A ceramic pad will give better rotor life but I am not concerned with that.
And I am over the brake dust thing with the OEM semi-metallic pads, it's just something I live with now.

I went with zimmerman rotors since I know they are good.
For pads, this is what I ordered.

And here is everything this site offers for 3.0T MKII 4M Q7s in terms of braking...
https://www.europaparts.com/audi/q7/...s/braking.html

Forgot to mention, they ship same day if your order is in before 2PM EST I believe and things come ground to MA next day.
You can also call them and give them your VIN and they will tell you exactly what fits if you are unsure... Seemed like a no-brainer to me.

2 years and 50 pages later, the problem still exists.

Are people experiencing this on 2019s?

Got fronts done, but still squealing from rear. Rotors still ok, wondering if should just change rear pads with some aftermarkets.

Really had enough of Audi brakes issues, next time I'll go aftermarket for sure, not only cheaper, but most likely better.
For DIY , is there something special when changing rears? I remember shop had to do some VAGCOM stuff last time. Or use a special tool???

Cheers,
Bob

Hello Gents,
To shop it goes. Indy, of course.
Thanks,
Cheers,
Bob

PS: for those if you in the real world(non SFBayArea), enjoy🙂!

Dealer called me yesterday. They are doing a full job in the rear with my parts.
However, what shocked me is they are pad slapping the front with the new clips. Reusing the old rotors. We will see how it goes...
Car did get new rotors around 30K ago and it mainly sees a lot of highway driving so I am guessing the fronts weren't shot.
