Are these fuel consumption issues with 2.0T or 3.0SC? It seems not very relevant if we are discussing this on totally different engine.

I wound up with Mobil1 0W-40. One service tech said get Castrol Edge Professional 5W-40, but when you look for it, that exact title only is sold through dealers and closest thing at local PepBoys was similar, but only available in quarts. I called back and another service tech said that any full synthetic was fine, but get the big container, you'll need it. He recommended and preferred Mobil1. Going down to 0W-40 wouldn't be a bad idea either, since I was travelling to cold climate. Only reason not to get free top off they offered was 30' drive each way.
When I wandered into various stores along I70, I noticed that most truck stops did not have European certified full synthetics. Walmart did from many different companies including Pennzoil, Quaker State, and I forget who else. Often the clue was either European or BMW on label. Turn it over and there was the VW 502 cert.

My 2018 Q7 has had the add oil light come on 3x in the 14K miles since I bought the car (brand new). The first time, they added oil, no service record generated. The second time, I complained and they started an oil consumption test. The third time, they finished the oil consumption test and told me the “oil consumption is permissible”.

My husband drives a 2015 A6. I had a 2008 Q7 before this. We also had a 2001 A4 previously. None of those cars ever needed oil to be added between oil changes. I am very unhappy with this performance and have opened a case with AOA and lodged a complaint. Do we need another class action law suit? My next thing to research is lemon laws.

Did you have a routine oil change at 10k? I've added a pint (not a quart) of oil at 2874 and 5500 so far. There is one somewhat annoying YouTuber who expalins why this behavior in newer cars is logical and acceptable.

Audi’s limits for “normal” oil consumption are extremely liberal. I believe they say 0.5 qt/600 miles is ok. Don’t be surprised when AOA blows you off.

Excessive oil consumption isn't normal

I thought this was a typo at first. Then I checked. Particularly disturbing is feeble power train warranty. So much for German engineering. https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...tion/index.htm

Good luck with that. That is well within "normal"
