Another Tire Choice Question

Discount Tire installed Hankook Ventus ST 295/45/20 on my 2017 Prestige about 3 months ago. The tread is very wide and looks extremely good with no noticeable bulging of the sidewalls. The Hankooks seem to be the only 295/45/20 that actually states that they are recommended for the 9.5 inch rim. The ride is very good and quiet. Handling may be a tad softer than the Contis, but still feels confident on the twisty roads that I like. I've had the same tires on a ML550 and found them to wear and ride better than the Michelin Diamaris.
By the way, Audi is using the Hankooks as original equipment, now.

From my October 2018 post, "Last week, after 26000 miles on the Goodyear runflats, switched to CONTISPORTCONTACT 5 SUV - SIZE: 285/45R20's. Immediately noticed quieter ride, as expected. Ride is not as smooth as ML550 with air suspension, but definitely changed the jarring bumps to just bumps on my Q7 non-air suspension. The Conti's in 285/45 r20 have the widest tread at 10 1/2" that I could find. Reviews have been mixed for wear, but at this point willing to try it for the improved ride." The Ventus ST RH06 has a tread width of approximately 10 1/4". The Hankooks were 1/2 the price of the Contis which lasted only about 14,000 miles (probably would have made it to 20,000 except for an alignment problem that wore the outside of one of the front ones). Now to see how these hold up.

For everyone who has switched from OEM Goodyear runflats to non-RF tires, what are you doing to prepare for a flat on the road? I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Do you just put a can of fix-a-flat in the car just in case?

Just got rid of he Pirelli run flats for a set of the Continentals. Couldn't be happier. I carry a tire plug kit, a more robust compressor for faster inflation and a AAA membership card. The fix-a-flat is a waste of time and will prevent the tire from being patched if it's just a nail. If the side wall gets ripped by a piece of metal it won't make any difference if the tire is a run flat or not.......get that AAA membership card out!!!!

I just replaced my Goodyear RFs last week at 28K. They had some life to them, but not for another Wisconsin winter. The Pirelli RFs didn't have a very good rating on Tire Rack so I when with the Goodyears again.
I bought them from my Audi dealer as they were $100 cheaper than the local Discount Tire shop. The dealer charged $279 for the 4 wheel alignment and sensors recalibration. After owning five Audi S cars, a Boxster and a 911 and buying many sets of ultra high performance summer tires for them, this all-season set for the Q7 has been the most expensive tires I've ever bought.

My local dealer just quoted me $1800 for the 20" Goodyear RF, plus $200 for alignment. I can get the same thing for $1600 from a nearby tire shop, who agreed to match TireRack at $360/tire. Of course this is the same dealer who also wanted to charge me $375 for a sensor alignment that they recommend with the tire change, even though I've had a zero issues with the system
