Default Bumper sill protector question

Just noticed a nice big scratch on the top of my rear bumper from unloading my snow tires the other day. Time for a sill protector. I really like the custom fit and full coverage of this unit:

My issue is I don't think I will like the shiny strip that will be exposed when the hatch is closed. My car is Ink Blue & all of the other trim on the car is matte silver. Does anyone know if you could powder coat the stainless steel? Or know of something similar in black rubber/plastic?

Thanks

The alloy itself, stainless steel can be powder coated. I wouldn’t think there’d be any issues with fitment afterwards either. Would be a pretty nice touch to the rear I’d agree.

What about the weathertech cargo mat with the bumper protector add-on piece?

There is an option to get a clear film installed right there, and I can't imagine its too expensive

Agree with BigKutta. My car was originally a dealership order that had a rear sill protector as a port addition and my SA advised against it saying it did not look as nice. I think many dealerships contract with somebody to do a "clear mask" or protective film protection of some kind which will keep your ink blue looking nice and protect the bumper from any damage. As I wait for my order I have been driving the Mrs. crazy, because I have been looking at both the company the dealership works with and a couple others in the area to make sure I get the best one to do the work.

I actually think the shiny stainless would look awesome assuming it matches well with the AUDI rings emblem and the exhaust pipes. Of course, if one or the other is clearly more shiny, than maybe not. I'm thinking the shiny strip that shows onces the trunk lid is closed, might look pretty darn good. Can you comment on the shininess of the product in relevance to the emblems and exhaust? I want one!
