After we picked up our Audi in Ingolstadt, the first thing I did is hit the autobahn and let it go on one of the speed-limit free sections. My wife remarked how pristine & quiet the cabin was - what I didn't tell her is that we were going nearly 140mph at the time My 2007 G35x waaay noisier inside in comparison, but then it is a much older car with a lot less refined V6

I think the Q7 is as quiet as most german cars, no better or worse. It also suffers from the rattles and squeaks found in all german cars

Mine doesn’t have a single squeak and is vault quiet after 2 years of ownership. My S5 and 911 are squeak and rattle free as well. So was my A6 and Q5. There goes your theory.

well, its my experience, so no need to for you to get offended. Just expressing my experience with German cars, and I'm not the only one. Go on most message boards and you'll read about rattles everywhere. I'm glad you had good experiences. Mine were usually resolved by the dealer over the years, but very much prevalent.

No offense was taken, but I suspect if you visit any automotive forum you’ll get the same complaints, “German” car or otherwise. People don’t post about their rattle-free cars.

Exactly, because they exist. I share my experiences, both good and bad, knowing others may or may not have the same issues

A series of BMWs over 40 years, as well as recent Q7s are without rattles, squeaks or creaks. To be fair, a succession of Lexus SUVs were equally absent aberrant noise, so Japanese models weigh in. The Q7s are by far the quietest cabins we've experienced, but couldn't generalize from any of our cars, although that represents a cross section of upwards of 15-20 automobiles.

My 2018 Q7 is the quietest car I have ever experienced.. no rattles, no wind noise.. nothing. I put the roof rack bars on top expecting to hear more wind noise.. still nothing. ((My former 2011 Q5 was a little louder, but it was only 4 cylinder. If I put the roof racks on it, I could definitely hear the wind.))

I have OEM bars, and I can tell it makes noise - esp above 50 MPH. It still significantly quieter than our '16 RDX.

As do I, it's the only way to be objective (vs subjective).
