Default Disable trunk open on key

Any way to do this? It keeps on accidentally opening when my bunch of keys is in my jeans pocket and I walk around.

There is coding that can increase the time required to hold down the fob button to open the rear lid. You would have to get an OBD11 or VCDS etc to do the coding.

Cool, any recommendations on how I'd go about this?

OBD11 is the less expensive option (about $60). It only runs on Android. If you don't have an Android device, you can get a cheap tablet for around $40. There's an OBD11 (OBDeleven) thread on here with lots of info.

Are you asking about the actual coding? Here it is:

Module: 46/Control Module Comfort Sys
Adaptation: Time for opening rear lid with remote control
Old value: 800ms
New value: 2000ms

Default Vcds - disable boot open with fob

Worked out how to do this on my S3
Connect a VCDS interface to the vehicle.
Select “09-Cent. Elect.” to access the Central Electrical Control Module.
Select “Security Access” and enter code 31347 and click the “Do It!”
Select “Adaptation”, Click on the “Channel” selector drop-down menu then select “(12)-Access control-Direkter Auswurf des Heckdeckels”.
The “Stored Value” should read “active”. Now, select “New Value” selector drop-down menu, and select “not Active”. Select the “Do It!” button.
A window will pop up to confirm the changes you are making, it should state that you are changing the value: FROM: “active” TO: “not active. Click on the “Yes” button to confirm the changes.

Thank you. I have been looking for how to do this. Our A3 has been randomly popping the trunk open, sometimes when tbe ignition is turned off and just randomly while the fob is hanging on the wall.

What year S3 do you have? I suspect i should be able to do the same thing for our 16 A3 using my laptop loaded with the Ross-Tech VAGCOM program.

I am fairly certain it would work. Mine is a 2016 as well.
