Looking for some guidance on removing the engine filter on a US 2017 Q7 with the 3.0 engine. I removed the top engine cover but am uncertain as to how to remve the air filter. I do not want to force anythng, Thanks

Thanks. Took the screw out, but still cannot get the filter out. I am mechanically component, but this is making me feel kind of stupid. Changed cabin air filter no issue, but do not want to force the engine air filter. Will have to ask dealer on my next service visit. They have been very good in answering my questions.

There is virtually nothing you can hurt, the whole box just lifts off if you disconnect the hoses on the left. Pry it up a bit, then use some force...

Default Can’t get it to work.

Thanks for the post. It’s the only one I could find on the internet/YouTube. I too tried to remove/replace the engine air filter on my 2018 Q7 and the filter would not budge. Seeing a quick video would be of enormous help. We drive on primitive roads a lot.

Male end that goes inside filter

Lip on right side that needs to be cleared to remove

Slides that engage and lock the bottom
I have some pics that might help people. I bought the China made filter and installed last night. As noted above you just need to wiggle it towards the driver’s side of the car. There is a lip you need to clear to loosen it as well. So it needs to lift on the right side and slide that direction as well. There are slides that engage on the bottom. I will attach pics below. Also note that although the filter looks to have a male end the slides into the housing, there is actually a male end that protrudes from the housing into the main port on the filter. It angles upwards. This is what makes it Pugh to remove. Keep wiggling it will come off!
