extended warranty

I went with couple of things here:
7 Yr/70K Miles, $100 Deductible Audi extended warranty for $2395
7 Yr/70K Miles Tire and Wheel protection package (Also includes windshield) from Audi for $999
Does that sound like a fair deal? I believe I can cancel in the first 60 days or so.
Thanks.

I would shop online at extended warranties. On my Honda I paid $2100
For 2/20k. Then found online it was $1200. I cancelled it 2yrs in and the prorated amount was $1600. The car was still under factory warranty. So really they made $500 with no liability.

So really you are paying $2395 to extend the factory warranty for an extra 2 years or 20k miles. Doesn't sound that great to me.

Its an expensive gamble. Personally, I haven't owned a car with less then 100k miles that gave me much trouble. Certainly not $2400 worth. After a 100k, more expensive items begin to break. You can go to Carchex and get a 7 year 120k warranty for $6k. Its that expensive because now they are really taking the risk on a high mileage car. These extended warranty companies are laughing all the way to the bank.

I can't comment on whether it is worth it or not but agree with the other members in that these cars are very expensive to repair should something go wrong. I traded on a 2010 BMW 550i GT with 53k miles on because at 52K miles [2k out of warranty with all dealer service] it ate its transmission. The cost of the total replacement was $10k. Luckily, BMW absorbed virtually all of it and the dealer swallowed the remainder. Had BMW walked away from it, it would have been a big problem for me. I promptly got rid of it after that and its penchant for killing expensive batteries every year.

Yeah its 3 Years/20K Miles and $2400 does seem a bit expensive to me. Let me check if I can re-negotiate with the dealer. Else I will just cancel it.

AUDI has had some dark years but I haven't seen any problems that would break the bank.
