Extended warranty- Audi’s safe guard vs fidelity
So I have been emailing back and forth with Troy from FD and here are some prices for a 2019 q7 for extended warranty with less than 10k miles:
Vehicle: 2017 - 2019 Audi Q7 with less than 10,000 miles.
Audi Pure Protection, Platinum w/ $100 deductible:
7 yr / 70K - $2810.00
7 yr / 100K - $3810.00
7 yr / 120K - $4745.00
8 yr / 80K - $3505.00
8 yr / 100K - $4435.00
8 yr / 120K - $4950.00
10 yr / 100K - $5080.00
10 yr / 120K - $5595.00
Fidelity Platinum w/ $100 deductible:
7 yr / 70K - $2355.00
7 yr / 100K - $3275.00
7 yr / 120K - $3579.00
8 yr / 80K - $2628.00
8 yr / 100K - $3554..00
8 yr / 120K - $3848.00
10 yr / 100K - $3624.00
10 yr / 120K – n/a
He also mentions that the only major differences between the two plans, are that the Fidelity ones start from the current date and mileage and the new Audi (Safe-Guard) ones start effective from the original in-service date and mile 0…and when it comes to cancellations and refunds, the new Audi program deducts paid claims from the refund amount and Fidelity does not.
As well as the Audi switched administrators for their extended warranty program in 2017. They went from Fidelity to Safe Guard, so the entire program is completely changed. However, he can offer either plan. If you want a Fidelity plan, Troy can still offer it through his Ford dealership it’s the same plan as the Audi Pure Protection plan from 2016, just without the Audi name/logo on it…and coverage would be good at all Audi dealers in the U.S.
So seeing fidelity being cheaper, what would make anyone buy an Audi warranty coverage, like am I missing anything here?
Feel free to share your thoughts.
Thanks

Audi Unlimited mileage plan
We put over 20K/yr (140k+/7yrs) on our 2018 Q7 and it had 6K on it when we bought it... We went with the 7 year unlimited mileage plan for $4,930.... Here is how the dealer explained it to us..
"Your original in service date is 5/26/18. The manufacturers coverage is 4 years OR 50k miles. Audi Certification is 1 year of unlimited when the manufacturer’s coverage ends. Because you have the CPO wrap, your coverage changes to 7 years unlimited miles from in service date. There is no deductible. The coverage is the same comprehensive coverage you get from the manufacturer as a new car."

Buying near end of Factory Warranty
The closer you get to the end of the factory warranty the more expensive the plans (since you will be making claims sooner)
Troy can sell fidelity up to 1 month before the end of Warranty but SG must be sold by 10K and 1 year before end of warranty.
Basically Fidelity maxes out between 100k and 110K where the Safeguard will cover up to 120K. Also, fidelity mas is in the 8-9 years from in service date while SG is up to 10. The $100 deductible goes away on the SG if you get repairs done where you bought the warranty which effectivley lowers the price depending on how often you need work, but requires that you negotiate with your dealer.
I like to keep my cars for 6+ years and usually buy them 2=3 years old and I don't know if its where I live or my driving style but I have always gotten good value from the Audi/VW extended warranty. Because of that I went with the Audi PP Platinum $100 on the 10 year 120K miles
Some additional price points from Troy (dealer is unlikely to go this low)
Vehicle: 2017 - 2019 Audi Q7 with 25,001 – 35,000 miles:

10 yr / 100K - $5470.00

5 yr / 75K - $3357.00

If you find out, let me know. I have sent 3 emails to him in the past few months regarding the warranty I purchased from him and he has yet to get back to me. I can not find my confirmation of purchase/paperwork and just needed a copy. I hope all is okay with Troy. Troy Dietrich <tdietrich@fd-warranty.com>

I contacted Troy a couple of weeks ago at this email TDietrich@FD-Warranty.com. He responded within 30 mins from this email; tdietrich@toyotaofgreenfield.com .. Every time I emailed him he responded quick so I am pretty sure that he will respond to either one..
I am leaning towards Fidelity for my A5 because I like the fact that the Fidelity plan starts from the date you sign the contract and not the typical "in service date" of the vehicle.. Below is the info Troy sent me
"The only major differences between the two plans, are that the Fidelity ones start from the current date and mileage and the new Audi (Safe-Guard) ones start effective from the original in-service date and mile 0…and when it comes to cancellations and refunds, the new Audi program deducts paid claims from the refund amount and Fidelity does not".
I checked with my service director and he said either plan is good but if it was him he would go with Fidelity based on his experience with them..
