Got a New Q7
Well, I did something I don't normally do. I traded in my car earlier than I usually do to get the new Q7.
I traded in my A6 that I've had around 6 months. Nothing wrong with that car, just wanted to upgrade. I opted for the 2.0T model, but should have gotten the 3.0. Thats the reason I tell myself to justify doing what I did
Anyway, I got a Metallic Black with black/grey premium plus, with 20 inch wheels.
I have the Bose 3d sound system, which is way better than the bose I had in the A6. To Me, the B&O sound system was not worth the extra $5k, but I am not an audiophile.
The vision package is a must have. Love it!. Also have cold & warm weather packages.
As others have said, the 3rd row seat is for small children only. Very little room back there.
I didn't get the best deal in the world, but I did get 4% off MSRP, and I'm not an audi club member. Also got $500 owner loyalty bonus (its only $500 for the new q7, I'm sure that will go up over time to $1k or so). I expected to get 0 off MSRP, as they sold every one they had that day except one Prestige sitting at slightly over $80k.
Only had it 3 days, but it is totally awesome! The closest real competition I would say is the XC90, which was excellent -- but I just liked the Q7 better. A side note there is the 4 cyl engine on the XC90 worried me that it would test drive good, but the warts would show after 6 months of driving like the A6 2.0T did.
Apple Car play works nice, and is a great addition. One thing I can say though is that I've gotten the electronics into some weird states where things like volume doesn't work (you try to change the volume and it is grayed out, and no sound will come out, though car play is happily trying to play a song). The fix for those kinds of blips was to turn the car off then back on. Its only happened while I was fumbling with options in the menu. Other than that, everything has been rock solid. I'll definitely be keeping this a lot longer than the a6!
