Default Hitch-mounted bike carriers and driver assist?

For anyone using a rear, hitch-mounted bike carrier: do these cause issues for any of the driver assistance systems, e.g. side assist? I expect some issues with the park distance alert.

This is a great question, my buddy's car will not stop beeping when he hooks up his bike rack to his hitch.

I wonder if you turned on trailer assist if this would stop that issue from happening.

I doubt you'll have any issues, as Audi itself sells hitch mount. You can find it in the Euro market brochure of accessories.

What size is the hitch receiver and any recommendations on a hitch mounted bike rack? Love to get input.

I'm considering Thule T2 Pro.

Q7 hitch has a 2" receiver.

Thanks but I imagine there is still a possibility of interference with some sensors when bikes are loaded up. The fact that Audi sells these accessories I don't think would preclude this.

Side assist would be one of the systems possibly affected. I just don't know where the side assist sensors are located to guess how likely these may be obstructed. Hoping to hear from drivers with experience using these.

Good point. I'm going to buy the hitch mount myself. I guess I'll wait for other people's reviews first before buying mine.

i had side assist on my previous gen q7 and I can guarantee it wont be effected by a bike rack on the hitch.. because I used it and it was fine . Im not sure about the rear collision avoidance technology though..Im sure they are smart enough to have thought of that

We have a hitch mounted Yakima Fullswing. When it's attached and you put the Q7 in reverse, the car makes an intentionally annoying loud tone because it thinks you're about to hit something. I'll look next time to see if there's a way to disable that temporarily.

I didn't pay close attention to the dashboard lights to see if the rear cross-traffic assist turned off, but the manual does mention that bike racks can interfere with them (page 144).
