Regardless of which seat it is under, he also mentioned you have to take the seat out to replace the battery.
So long story short... don't let the battery die often or you are looking at $400+ in labor plus the cost of the replacement battery. Note this is also due to programming for the auto start/stop.

Ok I stand corrected. Sorry for any confusion. Good to know I can get at it if need be. Too bad we cannot program the car to a new one without the dealer's help.

Yep. The battery is under driver seat in first gen Q7.

They told me under the middle-row seats. So if you replace the battery without reprogramming, what happens? If its just that the start-stop doesn't operate, I'd call that a plus.

I strongly doubt there is any "reprogramming" required for a battery replacement. A classic playbook move from a service advisor to sow uncertainty into owners' minds.

According to the source "Internet" either the dealer can reprogram it, OR after 10 engine starts, the system will learn the characteristics of the battery and program itself.
