If you order, do you renegotiate when car arrives?
So I ordered my 2018 q7 about a month ago and it is due in early Nov. When we came to terms, I got dealer invoice which was a great price at the time. It appears prices have dropped recently and one would assume there is a good chance current market prices will drop a bit more come November.
So my question is, for those that order a car, do you try to renegotiate the deal when the suv arrives? If so, it almost seems like negotiating now is a waste as you will have to do it again later and that will determine if you buy the car or not.

You shouldn't. You agreed to a price when the dealer placed your order. If market prices went up, would you let the dealer renegotiate with you? Also, the lower prices you are seeing people get are likely 17s.

I agree you shouldn't renegoitate the car since that's the price you agreed to. I ordered a 18 Q7 also and right now the production week is Sept 18th, so should be expecting the car around end of October or early November. The dealer will give me the higher loyalty discount when I pick up the car if it is higher.

I didn't renegotiate when I placed the order back in Aug 2017 (car arrived in Nov). All the negotiations should happen prior to you placing the order.

Unless something dramatic happens, you dont renegotiate. I think the 1-2 examples of 10% that you have heard are anomalies. 5-7% still continues to be the norm

I received some additional discounting due to a dealer error on delivery timing, but it was more because they told me it would arrive on a Tuesday and didn't actually show up until Sunday. Created some problems with my PPF appointment that I scheduled based on their commitment.

I agree. I believe a few people in the UK did, but this was down to the delivery being delayed which incurred a significant tax increase for the buyer (came in for cars registered after 1st April 17). In these cases I believe the dealer had said the car would arrive well before this date.
