If you have this type of car there is little excuse not to have either $1mm in coverage or an umbrella with $1mm in coverage. Raise your deductible to $1k and it probably I ably won't cost you that much. Would you ever actually ever make a claim for $600, then why have a $500 deductible.

Insurance prices are so variable, but as a comparison I asked my insurance guy how much it would cost to insure the Q7 in excess of my wife's 2012 Odyssey (which the Q7) is replacing, and it's only $64/yr.

Interesting... You replacing the Odyssey for a Q7. I am doing the same thing. May I ask the reason to the switch. Is something to do with issues on the Odyssey?
I have 2011 Odyssey Touring Elite.

I replaced my Mercedes R350 with Q7 and my insurance premium increased by $190 for 6 months from Geico. I think Geico is ripping me off and its time for me to shop around.

No, we've got a 2012 Elite and it hasn't been in for a single warranty issue. We're just done with the van. The Honda doesn't offer near the refinement of the Q7 and I find that very noticeable when I switch between the A6 and Odyssey. It's fine for what it is but we've done our time.
