New Q7
Traveled to Las Vegas yesterday to pick up my new Q7 this morning. I’m very, very happy with it! Now it’s going to sit in valet for the next two days while I run around the strip and I’m going to miss it. Looking forward to the 7 hour drive home. I won’t be missing my 2016 X5 35i M Sport. The only thing that I’m not thrilled about is the Q7 feels A LOT slower than my X5. Maybe it just needs broke in.

From your picture I can't see if the Q is 2.0 or 3.0.
For comparison 0-60 times are as follows:
Q7 2.0 - 7 sec.
Q7 3.0 - 5.4 sec.
X5 35i - 5.8 sec
X5 M - 3.8 sec
Now, since you mentioned 35i and M sport (package) - that means it wasn't a real M as in 4.4L V8, so unless your Q is the 2.0, the Q may FEEL slower off the line, but the numbers don't lie.

Where I live in New Mexico, the closest dealer is 3 hours away.. Albuquerque. That dealer is horrible to deal with. They have the monopoly. It’s like that with nearly every brand in the whole state. Not a single Q in Albuquerque or Phoenix had packaging that I wanted. Also, I got about 19% off including incentives.
3.0T Prestige
BOP
Air suspension
22” rims
Tow pkg
Being new I haven’t given it hell too much but it doesn’t suck you back in your seat at all. Like mentioned, numbers don’t lie and from what I’ve read the numbers are about 0.3sec to 60mph quicker than the X5. BUUUUUT this thing feels almost like a 2.0 without a turbo. Could be break in needed. Not a huge deal. And I’m not dissatisfied.
How fast do I need to go? At $80k... pretty fast. Just expected the same or more oomph as the 35i so that was a shocker. Really my only negative observation but I’m not peeved or anything.
My wife said “did you floor it?” I said “yeah” and she goes “eeeh is thing that slow?” Lol more testing to follow.

Doesn’t mean my 35i was or felt *slow* because it wasn’t an ///M. I’m aware it wasn’t a 4.4 V8. But the Q *feels* as gutless as our suburban at the moment. Was a surprise. I’ll reevaluate my statement after more miles and seat time. Also, I have not tried Sport and Dynamic mode. Air suspension could have a little to do with it as well. It’s EXTREMELY smooth, especially for having 22s. The X5 rode brutal, even after taking off the RFTs.

Fwiw, I didn’t come here to dog it or be negative. It was merely an observation. One thing that had surprised me. I really believe it’s a combo of break in needed and having the air suspension. And who knows, it could be running low octane crap gas. When I dropped It with the valet at the hotel it had 17 miles on it.

I had them at 12% off but the MF on the lease was marked up quite a bit and they didn’t want to budge. After negotiations, the vehicle had sold anyways and everything else they have currently isn’t to my liking. Sucks I’ll miss out on some dealer loyalty perks but it’s not the end of the world really.
