Default No Longer Receiving Texts

Not sure when this changed for me, but I am no longer receiving texts via the MMI. I'm not a heavy text user but I have gotten them in the past. Lately I see them hit my phone but they never hit the MMI.

:I am definitely connected via Bluetooth.
:I am using a Galaxy S6 Edge on AT&T
:I am not using Android Auto
:I am connected via Bluetooth
:I have no problems with telephone calls
:I am using the default text program which was never a problem when it was working before recently becoming a problem
:Text messaging option is ON
:My Audi Connect free subscription expired in August

If anyone has any idea what the problem may be or any suggestions on a fix it will be much appreciated.

Don't know about Android... But on iPhone, if you connect via Bluetooth, MMI no longer handles messages. Only phone calls and directory. All messages are handled via Siri only...... Another way is connect using USB, which it will enable the CarPlay interface.

I can get texts on the iPhone via Bluetooth. I believe it only works for new texts that you receive on the current journey though.

Text messages never work on mine when connected via Bluetooth. I can hear an alert tone and the text message icon in instrument lights up, but that's about it.

The only way I can do anything with text messages is through CarPlay.

I will have a look tomorrow and take some pics but definitely received a non-CarPlay text in the last few weeks.

It happened very randomly just one time on the MMI for me via my Android phone. I can't explain what triggered it. I'm surprised OP was getting it continuously for some time. Wish this was enabled outside of Android Auto.

Here you go. I sent a text from another phone and here are the steps to view it. I got the beep and the text icon appeared circled in the first picture:

That's EXACTLY how mine used to work. Something changed. Thanks for the replies. I will try some connection changes based off your feedback. I have a feeling it has something to do with a recent update from AT&T to my phone.

Just thinking this could be down to your notification settings on the phone itself. This is under Settings - Notifications - Messages.

Mine is set to:
