Default oil changes

Hi guys,

coming up to my first oil change on my Q, and I was wondering do you guys have a specific oil brand you guys use like Liquimoly or Motul.. and do you guys add any addittives like liquimoly Ceratec (my local indy tech swears by this stuff) and he works on some nice cars.

No on the additive. Use a 504 approved oil and be done with it.
I like Castrol 0w-40 which is very highly regarded but there are tons of options. Castrol, Mobil 1, Amsoil, Penzoil, Liquimoly, and others. Don't over think it...

LM certainly has a 504.00 oil, I use it in our cars most of the time.

Yeah, there's a very clear statement in the Owner's Manual about the use of "additives" and voiding your warranty.

Are you at 10,000 miles a new Q7? If so, the 10,000 mile service is free at the dealer..

If you plan to keep car for the long haul, if possible I would stick to 5k OCIs. I do 5k oil change intervals in all the VAG cars we have and never have had a problem. If I got them used I started when I got them... and most of them are tuned or have been tuned and all are driven hard.

Don't forget to get the 10K free one from the dealer. As you know that is a 10K or 12month thing...

Agreed and well said - don't over think. Use what the dealer uses. The dealer does my oil changes every 10,000 miles and then I'll "vacuum" out my oil at the 5,000 mile intervals which is super easy.

P.S. From what I’ve read on the forum, your dealer vacuums out your oil, too. If anyone bueves otherwise, please chime in.
