Default Oil not full after oil change?

Second oil change with a new Audi dealer since we moved. Both times the vehicle menu for oil level shows less than full a day or two after oil change. First oil change it showed 80% full and the most recent time it was only 70% full.

Dealership is very good to top it off but I don't understand why it wouldn't be full? I'll ask them when I take it in but wondered if others have the same experience?

Was it fully warmed up both times when you checked?

Yes, engine was fully warmed up and I followed steps outlined in the manual.

Oil consumption with 67,000 miles averages one quart every 4-5,000 miles. It's been steady since I bought the car new.

This does not mean that the engine oil level is 70% or 80%. These are just the minimum and maximum allowable levels. It is worth reading the manual for the car.

Pretty sure the OP is thinking it's burning 30-40% of it's maximum oil (assuming it was filled up to 100%) in 1-2 days. Our engines may burn oil, but it's not quite that fast!!!

I'm not thinking my Q7 has burned that much oil in a couple days. What I'm thinking is my Q7 left the dealership with less than a 100% oil level. They did not put in enough oil to begin with.

a75, are you saying it's ok for a dealership to only fill the oil level to 70 or 80%? "This does not mean that the engine oil level is 70% or 80%. These are just the minimum and maximum allowable levels. It is worth reading the manual for the car."

I regret how confusing my original post appears to be.

Proxs, that bar graph does NOT represent the entire oil capacity. It's typically just a quart/liter of oil. When the bar graph is at the bottom, it does NOT indicate the vehicle is just about out of oil.

I would leave things alone and check the level every week or so if you are concerned about oil consumption. Just monitor it.

It takes a few days and some driving for the oil level to be accurate following an oil change.

Yes, but isn't it measuring how much is left of the most critical quart of oil? None the less, I'll drive a few more days and check again. Thanks.

Why would the 1st quart of oil be the most critical if there are 5 more quarts remaining???????
