Q8 22" wheels on Q7?
Hi,
New here...hoping your collective Audi expertise can answer a question that I can't find a definitive answer to! Earlier this year I bought a 2020 Q7 Prestige with black optics pkg. that came with 21x9.5 (26 offset) wheels. I'm looking to upgrade to AudiSport OEM 22s, but have seen a few different variations of the same wheel:
22x9.5 (26 offset)
22x10 (26 offset)
and the same wheel for the Q8/SQ8 that is 22x10 with a 21 offset.
From what I've seen online, it looks like the Q8/SQ8 wheel is set up with 285/40/22 tires on the Q8, while the recommended tire size for the Q7 22" rim is 285/35/22.
My question is, will the 22x10 Q8/SQ8 wheel fit my Q7 with a 21 offset (versus 26)? and if so, can I mount 285/35/22s on it?
Thanks!

I have a 2019 Q7 and I bought 22" Q8 wheels from a Q8 owner on this site. The 22" wheels are beautiful - I love the offset and how the wheels and tires feel my wheel well.
When I got the wheels home I took them to Discount Tire and they recommended that I go with 285/40 tires. The problem is - if I go over a big dip at high speed, I will occasionally hear tire rub. I have been driving this way for about 8 months now and I don't see any damage to the tire or to my wheel wells, but the rub is definitely there under certain conditions. I just got home from 5 days of travel in two national parks where I did lots of offroad driving on jeep roads and these roads did create lots of situations where my tires rubbed the inside of my wheel wells. Fortunately, I have the Adaptive Chassis setup and I set the car on the Comfort setting to reduce the number of times that I rub. If I drive in the Dynamic mode I rub very frequently and easily.
When I wear these tires out I will likely replace them with 235 tires in an effort to give myself just a little more room to prevent the rubbing. So bottom line - the car and stance look beautiful - the offset makes for a great look, but the bad news is you will get some tire rub.

Thanks for the info and pics!
So just to be clear, you can mount 285/35s on those?
And again, I'm a noob so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what is the effect of the different offset? If the offset on the Q8 wheel is 21 (versus 26 on the Q7 wheel), do your wheels sit any further inside the fender than your stock Q7 wheels did? any issues with your brake calipers at all? They look great in the pics, but I'm just trying to make sure I'm clear on it.

By running a 22x10" ET21 vs 22x10" ET26, the wheel will stick outwards by 5mm. Negligible amount to notice any difference in driving dynamics.
I run 22x10" ET15 with 285/35R22 with no issues regarding driving dynamics or clearance to fender. Pic to show how they sit when car is in Dynamic suspension setting plus the rear lowered via the luggage load function.

Like I said above, I will be going with the 285/35R22's when I wear out my current 40's. This new setup will be 1 inch shorter overall, which should alleviate my rubbing issue. I recognize that the ride will be slightly harsher since the sidewall will be about 14 millimeters shorter.

If just up front, it may be on the fender liner screw that's located near the top of the wheel wheel. If can be easily removed (screw and tab) and should help minimize the rubbing you observe without negative impact on retaining the fender liner.

I love the way the 285/40 R22 fills out the wheel well, but the rubbing is not good - I find that I seldom drive in the Dynamic mode with my chassis down because I am concerned about tire rub. I will switch to the 285/R35's after I wear out my existing tires. It's good to hear from someone else that the 35 size does not rub.
