Audi has been so odd with rear fog lights in North America over the decades. With these newer models Audi has gotten even more confusing, some cars pre-wired for rear fog lights, some not, some cars that shouldn't have rear fog lights at all by VIN that have a left one installed, some cars can just add a switch and the North American taillight parameters will allow a rear fog to be activated, but other models need full European taillights and European taillight parameters to get a bumper mounted rear fog light working...

Luckily for the Q7 models it appears these cars are pre-wired and fitted with rear fog lights plus the North American taillight parameters allow for a rear fog light by just adding a new headlight switch. The genuine headlight switch is available here for fairly quick delivery:
