Default Suspension Bushings/2017 Q7

Hear da clunking noise from steering column-took it in, advisor stated that hydro-bushings are being replaced. No wheel alignment noted, but I figured since they're replacing suspension parts it should be re-aligned? Or does it not affect alignment?

BTW, I don't know about anyone else, but I am so tired of all of the stuff they try to sell you when you bring it in for service. Every time I tell them to save their breath, but they keep trying to sell you everything under the sun.

Hmm, maybe go in after it gets dark
...sorry couldn't resist. Not all dealers are created equal, some REQUIRE their service managers to up-sale unnecessary services. If they don't go into the sales pitch, they may lose their job, so they just motor on. If you can, try a different dealership and see if they are any better. On the other hand, if you are happy with the service, just let them talk and decline any services you know you don't need. At the end, all you are after is a good service job on your vehicle.

Yeah I'm happy with the service, but it's annoying as hell. When I bought my wife's Q5 when we went into the box, I told the guy right off the bat to save his breath-I wasn't buying wheel guard, dent guard, or any of their other BS.
He then proceeded to try and sell them. Only when I got up to walk out did he stop.
I guess they get sheep who walk in there and say "yep, yep, yep" and the dealer steals thousands of dollars.
It just annoys me when I say no and they keep babbling.

What is a hydro bushing?
Folks are having front control arm bushings replaced due to popping noises at full lock... please elaborate.
Thanks.

Some of the bushings are not solid rubber, they are actually oil filled. I.e., if you damage one, they leak oil. Do not put a jack-stand under a lower control arm bushing for example, since it is not meant to take full weight of the car, and it may rupture.
