Default Trunk mount bike rack

Does anyone have a Saris or Thule trunk mount bike rack attached to the back of their Q7? Thule told me the reason they don’t officially support it is because the spoiler is fiberglass and wouldn’t support the weight.

You might want to consider adding a hitch for a bike rack solution. If you don't get trailer wiring, it's pretty reasonably priced ($187 at eTrailer.com).

I used a trunk mount Thule a few times and upon dropping off the bike at my local shop, the owner kindly told me "that's a bad idea," that the spoiler could rip right off...and he's seen it happen before. I've got the tow package, so needless to say, my wife was quickly OK with me buying a hitch mount bike carrier...

++ for the trailer hitch route. If you go that way, make sure you get a 2" hitch and a 2" bike rack--NOT a 1.25" bike rack with an adapter. The adapter eventually wears and the hitch starts to sway. Not pretty.

I started out with a Saris, but upgraded to a Kuat rack. Very solid.

+1 for the 2" hitch. I have a Yakima 4 bike rack and it is solid on the 2" hitch. I would not trust a trunk mount to hold the weight of 4 bikes with no damage to the car.
