Default 17" wheel specs?

i was just going to get 17x8 wheels and wanted to double check the offset. a 17x8 5X112 w/ 35mm offset will fit an 85 w/ no problems? i just saw the post that the stock 15X8's had a 24mm offset. i'm not going for blingness just want to get bigger brakes very, very soon. TIA (i did search)

Default You might want to double check with the BIRA page.

I think thats a good measure without any others that at least compare some wheel sizes and types and fitment over larger calipers and rotors.

Wouldn't a 35mm offset (if all things were equal) mean the wheel spokes could be 5mm closer to the suspension than the same 15X8 et 24 you mention?

The 15x9 et 12 wheels come very close to the coilover perches (maybe 6mm) Granted my coilovers are larger than stock, but it seems you might get close with the 17X8 et 35 wheels. I don't think you will hit anything with the 17X8s but I'm not sure about your tires.

http://www.bira.org/wheels.html</a

Default Re: 17" wheel specs?

FPOR, I run Big Reds on my '83 with 17x8.5 (borbet C's) ET 33 and 235/45 HTRZII's. I used a 5ml spacer, so the effective offset is 28mm, the spacer was only to clear the Reds (read: may not need it depending on style of wheel). The only mods I did were to modify the lower spring perch with a hammer, and roll the fenders.

Since the '85 already has the rolled fenders, I'm thinking you shouldn't have a problem.
