Default Nasty body roll

Link is to a pic of me at the Tire Rack ACNA autox from this past weekend. The car allegedly has H&R springs and Koni shocks, PO mods. What's the easiest or best way to get rid of the nasty roll? I did coilovers to my 90, and that really helped that car. I guess I'm probably looking at coilovers and larger sway bars?

What setups are others out there running to get less roll?

Thanks!

Nathan Engelbert

Default Same issue here.

I had H&R springs and Boge TurboGas shocks from the PO. I tested the front springs and they came out to 195-205 lb/in, way too soft IHO.

What I'm doing is 2Bennett coilovers with 325 lb/in springs in front and 375 in back. I have a set of custom valved Bilstien shocks to match. I'll report back from the track after the November event.

Default Stumbling sorted?

Nathan,

Did you get the stumbling problem you had fixed? If so, what did it end up being.

I fnally passed E-check today. The cold start valve was hard-wired to come on with the ignition and was causing the car to run very rich.

Default ponderings on Body Roll

I sometimes wonder if the quest to flatten audis and stiffen the supension is the right course of action.

On n a perfectly falt surface it is. BUT...... in Canada we don't have smooth roads, ( oru pavement is rough and wavey frost heaved cracked and sometiems even potholed, we sometimes drive on gravel and often in snow.
It has been my experience an overly stiff suspension is a handycap in slippery conditions.
I even know a rally team that removed their front sway bar! The car sure rolled but on back roads it was the right solution for them.

I guess it comes down to where you think you will do the moste spirited driving and how much.

Default Re: Nasty body roll

Hi Nathan,

I have had reasonable luck running 2Bennett coilovers with koni sport shocks. I also have the blau rear sway bar, but the item i think made a big difference was changing all of the a-arm bushings to solid delrin (also blau).

At the time the ur-q was a daily driver so i used 350 lbs/in front and 325 rear. It was decent for lapping days and reasonably comfortable on the street. Now that this is my track car, I somewhat regret going with such conservative rates. If I had to do it all over again I would go for 500 lbs springs all around.

The pic in my sig shows how flat the car corners.. that is a 90 degree right hand turn, entry speed is 100 km/hr and exit speed is 120 km/h.

Default This was my case

Moved to Camaro 34mm sway bars front and back to solve that problem for good!!
