Default Pulling motor options

What is the best/easiest way to remove the motor on my 83 UrQ? pulling the motor and trans together out the bottom or pulling the motor only from the top. It seems like pulling the trans isn't too bad but I don't need it out if it can be avoided.

Any suggestions?

Also what performance upgrades can I do since I am rebuilding the motor anyway.

Thanks

Default Re: Pulling motor options

Pull it from the bottom. It easlier. Upgrades depends on what kind of cake you want to spend. First upgrade the ECU, I recommend a Ned Ritchie Modified unit. It gives you all the performance the other ECU's do but keeps the safety margins like overboost shut down. I have my K26 modified 10 degrees on the hot side, a simple trick. Exhaust upgrades (not sure what state you live in, but i was able to run my 83 without a cat or the resinator. So a 3" striaght pipe was installed. Check your emission restrictions with your local shop)and the other expensive tricks such as cam upgrades, intercoolers, etc. I would also think about upgrading to a water cooled turbo as it will take the abuse better than the oil cooled versions.
