Want to buy URQ

Want to buy URQ
Have been lurking around the list for a while. I need a cool winter driver and have looked at the URQ for a while. Have seen ebay prices all over the place. Still in contact with Tammie Goodell, the lister of the red URQ for $3900 and asked her to pose on the hood in her bikini but still awaiting the photograph... Scammers. So where can I get a good one, without paying too much? I would image most of the value lies in the originality and condition. If it came with a 15 Valve engine, it shouldn't have a 20V in it. This is like customization, and I've seen customized vehicles which cost $100k but I wouldn't give $25 for. So while it may improve performance, the question about improving value is questionable to me. So there are two URQ on ebay (again) has anybody looked at these cars, and what are they really worth? These are both with fuse boxes "out in the rain" correct?

Re: Want to buy URQ
The US urquattros have 10V motors.
The 83s dont' really have a fuse box or relay box. That is why their wiring is so bad.
The 83.5 models start to have a proper box under the hood like the 84s and 85s.
Seems like original well maintained cars (even if 83s) are going for near 20,000 now. 15K to 20K.
Beaters are in the 4000 range now.
Any urquattro in the 100K range must be very customized. Never seen anything approaching that except for rally cars.

Re: Want to buy URQ
Hi James, thanks for replying. I thought even the early 5 cylinder engines had 3 valves per cylinder... Guess not.
When referring to customizing, wasn't necessarilly referring to URQ. I'm hoping to buy a fairly good example for around $8k but that is perhaps not enough? Other than ebay, where are good examples listed?

They're 2 per cylinder. Mercedes uses 3 on their current models.
Try Audifans. There are a few listed there.
I think someone was selling a Gobi Beige one for about 8000 to 9000 on Motorgeek. Looked okay and well maintained.

Are you sure this is what you want?
Cool yes, winter driver, maybe.
These things tend to rust out pretty badly as winter drivers (no galvanizing)
The NLA parts list is getting pretty lengthy too.
Fun cars, just more trouble than most people would put up with.
Winter driver sounds like a bit newer car with some rust proofing to me.
Yes, my sig pic is an 83 in the snow. But it sure isn't a daily driver anymore.

Re: Are you sure this is what you want?
Oh well, I thought Audi had a similar program to Porsche with respect galvanizing. Didn't know that they started it late. So that means 1985 or newer for an UR-Q. Or a Celica all-trac, which seems to be about the same money.

I don't think any of the US urq's got galvanized.
If you really want one, there are 90-91 Coupe quattros around that have been converted to 20V turbo engines, some with S2/RS2 OE parts. Those cars were galvanized. You will pay quite a bit more for one of those in nice shape.

you still heve to be prepare to spend some "money"... Old cars, parts are expensive and hard to get.
I wouldn't recommended URQ for a "daily" driving.. Weekends, yes..
